Jedi vs. NinjaSince I have been deprived of sleep, had a constant diet of Ramen noodles laden with MSG, and Mountain Dew, the question often has come up, “Who would win in a fight, a Jedi or a Ninja?” My thoughts about this subject have often been interrupted by either alarm clocks set in anticipation of sleep that never comes, or the all too brief moments of unconsciousness that are followed by short periods of anger at my now bleak circumstances. I Don't Think I'll Be Home...Frank Getz was driving down I-80, through Nebraska, hoping to make the Iowa border by nightfall, but the weather just wouldn’t cooperate. He’d been snowed in three times this trip so far; it’d taken him five extra days just to get this far, even though he always seemed to be right behind the plows. The Moment BeforeThe dew on the grass is cold, and the tension in the air seems as though it is bracing for the storm that the coming day’s cares always seem to inevitably bring with them. The trees across the street from the hill I’m sitting on are still, except for the shadows playing back and forth in the gaps between the leaves. The house they line is quiet, standing there, stoic, like a relic from a forgotten time. It’s paint, like a receding hairline, exposes so much more about it.
